Potters Croft Garden-akaroa

The Potters Croft Garden in Akaroa consists of nearly 3 acres of land.

We are open for pre-arranged garden tour groups from early October through to the end of April and are happy to talk to groups if requested. The cost is $10 per person.

Our Akaroa garden features a pond which is surrounded by 200+ roses, rose arbours, rhododendrons and azaleas, and several pathways under English trees and through shrubberies.

There is a summer house positioned under a large walnut tree beside the stream, a peaceful place to sit on a hot day. Native trees and shrubs abound, including an old Kahikatea tree or New Zealand White Pine. A large sloping lawn leads from the house to the jetty on the pond below.

Above the house is a tree lined driveway with citrus and apple trees on one side and on the other, a small grapevine and old sheep yards recently converted to vegetable gardens.

Native NZ wood pigeons and bellbirds are a common sight, and more recently the Tui, which has been re-introduced to Akaroa and Banks Peninsula.

We are approximately 400m from the main road into Akaroa within easy walking distance of the village and a 5 minute walk to the restaurants of Vangionis, The Little Bistro, The Stables and Ma Maison.
